‘Syncopated Rhythms’ Jazz Brunch and Auction - 2007

THE PROGRAM for Women and Families, Inc. held its second ‘Syncopated Rhythms’ jazz brunch and auction, at the Lehigh Country Club on November 4th. "Miss Jazz", Toni Harris and her fellow musicians entertained the 170 guests, including Mayor Ed Pawlowski and Lisa, the Honorable Jane Baker, the Honorable Max Davison and Barbara, The Honorable James Knoll Gardner and Linda Kay, The Honorable Robert Steinberg and Linda DelBalso Steinberg, Judge William Platt and Maureen, Larry and Hazel Hilliard, Sandy and Pat Beldon, Steve and Barbara Diamond and Board President Susan Harris and Bill.

Board member Carlene Morrow introduced our 2007 honoree, Judith Ruhe Diehl. Judith described the conditions in the women’s prison in the early 1970s and the early efforts of a small group of women to change how the women were treated and housed. Judith’s husband and son, as well as many friends of the Diehls were also present. A graduate of THE PROGRAM’s Day Program, Kelly Regan Latham told the audience what THE PROGRAM had done for her and her family, and related the positive differences in her life as a result of participating in the Day Program.

Local glass artist Carlene Morrow’s Tiles for Change was displayed. Carlene’s husband John was also at the brunch.

A good time was had by all. Thank you to everyone who attended and all those individuals and companies that donated to THE PROGRAM’s event.
